92. "Sooner or Later"
Artist: The Feelies
Year: 1991
When describing the Feelies, prolific wouldn't be the adjective that comes to mind. When they did produce, however, each album was a must have. 'Time For a Witness' was the band's only album in the decade. In fact, we wouldn't be blessed with another one for 20 years, but there were quite a few gems from it that could have made this list. "Doin' It Again" and "Invitation" popped in my head early on, but I went with "Sooner or Later" because it captures that patented Feelies' sound the best. This song could have been on any of their albums, including 'Here Before,' one of the great all-time comebacks.
And just for fun, here is the Feelies as the Willies covering a classic in the film 'Something Wild.' Brilliant.

Great stuff. I have 'Only Life' and 'Time for a Witness' and hadn't realised that they reconvened in 2011. Will have to check out 'Here Before'.
Hi Swede. If you liked those two albums, you will dig Here Before. That two decade gap just melts away.
Great post Brian. The Feelies are another forgotten and underrated band. I love their first record that was on heavy rotation back when it was released. I heard about their reconvention but forgot to check our Here Before. And Something Wild is a fantastic movie with a superb soundtrack.
You will not be surprised to hear that this yet another band I've not really heard much from. Much prefer Sooner or Later to their cover. By the way, your messages to my site have been in the spam folder. I have un-spammed you.
Walter, If the Feelies are remembered at all, it will be for their first album. It's one of those records that they say inspired others to start bands... especially here in America. You're so right about the Something Wild soundtrack. I did a big post about it in 2010, but I didn't really have any readers back then. Perhaps I should give that one another go at some point.
George, Thanks for checking into that. I may need to ask a couple of other bloggers to do the same. I wrote a BRILLIANT post on the Stone Roses' second album over at Bagging Area a couple of days ago and it disappeared. If you find the time, the Feelies are worth some investigating. I wouldn't be surprised if you have some early stuff in your archives.
Couple of great tunes from the vastly underrated Feelies.I have to second Walter on the Something Wild soundtrack, especially the UB40 instrumental. Nice choice for your classic record recommendation this week as well, Rowland's masterpiece.
Great track! Thanks for posting it. I remember playing "Only Life" cassette to death back in the day.
My favorite album may be "The Good Earth" but I also really like "Time for a Witness" and the recent comeback "Here Before".
Interesting enough, my least favorite is "Crazy Rhythms" which gets a lot of critical acclaim.
I'm enjoying the 90's countdown and look forward to more posts. Thanks.
Thanks for taking the time, McPop. We are a lot a like. Although Crazy Rhythms gets all the fame, it is my least favorite as well. I'm guessing there are a lot of fans that feel the same way. It sounds the least like the others. I just think there are a lot of people out there that have only heard that one. In my book, that's a travesty. My soft soft is Only Life. That's the first one I bought as a first day new release, due to my age more than anything. Honestly, though I love them. Please chime in again.
McPop,
That should say I love them ALL, meaning all of their albums.
